The offer
We measure pad thickness in mm, run a micrometer on the rotors, and walk you through the numbers at the counter. If you need work, you get a written line-item quote, you approve before we start, and you save 15% on the labor.
What we check
The six measurements a real shop takes before recommending a single repair. Most quick-lube places eyeball it through the wheel. We pull the wheels, measure, photograph, and write the numbers down.
Inner and outer pad measured at every wheel with a brake gauge. We walk you through every reading at the counter. New pads start around 10-12 mm, replacement is recommended at 3 mm.
Each rotor checked with a micrometer against the manufacturer's minimum-thickness spec, plus a dial-indicator check for run-out. Tells us whether to machine, replace, or leave alone.
Caliper piston for sticking, slider pins for seizing, seals and dust boots for tears, brake hose for cracking or bulging under pressure. The parts that cause uneven wear and pulling.
Refractometer reading on the fluid. Phoenix heat boils contaminated fluid faster than the national average. Anything above 3% water content gets a flush quoted.
Parking brake travel and holding tested, electronic park brake actuation verified on newer vehicles, and the ABS module scanned for stored fault codes before we touch anything.
We walk you through every measurement at the counter, plus a written quote if anything needs work. Your baseline either way, and 15% off the labor if you approve the repair.
What we fix
Pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, master cylinder, ABS diagnostics, parking brake, fluid flush. If it's between your foot and the pavement, we do it here. No farming it out.
Same 12 month / 12,000 mile parts and labor warranty on every repair.
Why now
Phoenix summer is rough on brake fluid. Heat-cycle a contaminated fluid past its boiling point on a 115 degree afternoon and the pedal sinks at the worst possible moment. The squeal you've been ignoring on the US-60 is the wear indicator doing its job. The next sound is metal on rotor.
Catch it at the squeal and you're replacing pads. Catch it at the grind and you're replacing pads and rotors. Catch it after a sticking caliper has chewed through both and you're replacing pads, rotors, and a caliper. Same car, three different invoices.
The inspection is free. The decision stays with you. If you do need work, you save 15% on the labor.
Free. 15% off labor on any work needed. Numbers vary by vehicle and parts. Every line item quoted in writing before work begins.
How it works

What customers say
Real reviews from real customers in the East Valley.
“Never will I ever see another mechanic as long as I live. My vehicle has been to Abe's three times now, for different issues every time, because when Abe fixes it, it stays fixed.”
“Abe is solid. I showed up needing brake work. He charged me a little over $100 for what would have been over $450 elsewhere due to unnecessary add-ons. Patient, honest, no upsell.”
“Abe is hands down one of the nicest, most straight-shooting guys I've come across in a mechanic shop. He always jumps right on the job, gets it done fast and efficient.”

Common questions
Pad thickness measured in millimeters at each wheel, rotor thickness checked with a micrometer plus a run-out check, caliper and slider pin inspection, brake hose and steel line visual, brake fluid moisture content measured with a refractometer, and parking brake and ABS verification. You get a written summary at the counter with every measurement and any recommended repair quoted in writing.
No. The brake inspection is free, period. No oil change required, no other service required. If your pads and rotors are fine we tell you, write down the measurements as your baseline, and send you on your way. If a repair is needed we quote it in writing and you approve every line item before any work begins. If you do approve work, you get 15% off the labor.
Most brake jobs are same-day. The inspection itself runs about 30 to 45 minutes. Pads and rotors on one axle typically take 60 to 90 minutes once the car is in the bay. Caliper replacement adds another 30 to 45 minutes. Every job ends with a road test before pickup.
Yes. Brake repairs carry the same 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty as everything else we install. Parts and labor are both covered on parts we supply. Customer-supplied parts carry whatever warranty the box says. If something we fixed gives trouble within that window, you bring it back and we make it right.
All major makes, domestic and import, cars and light trucks. We also handle European luxury vehicles, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Volvo, Land Rover, with the diagnostic tools to reset brake-pad wear sensors and electronic parking brakes properly. Specialty pads or rotors are quoted upfront.
