Our commitment
Abe's Automotive Repair is committed to ensuring that our website and our physical shop are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe access to honest auto repair is a basic need, not a luxury.
Conformance standard
We are working to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, learning, language, and neurological disabilities.
We also align our practices with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and relevant state law.
Measures we take on the website
- Semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation, including a visible skip-to-main-content link and clear focus indicators.
- Descriptive
alttext on meaningful images. - Color contrast meeting WCAG 2.1 AA ratios for text and UI elements.
- Responsive layout that scales to 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality.
- Language attribute on the
<html>element that updates when you toggle between English and Spanish. - Form fields with associated labels and descriptive placeholders.
- Avoidance of flashing or auto-playing content that could trigger seizures.
Measures we take in the shop
- Step-free entrance and accessible customer waiting area.
- Accessible parking adjacent to the office entrance.
- Staff who can communicate in plain language and accommodate reasonable requests.
- Bilingual service in English and Spanish (hablamos español).
- Phone, text, and email communication channels so customers can use the method that works best for them.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Some embedded third-party content (e.g., Google Maps, social embeds) may not meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We continue to evaluate alternatives.
- Older blog post imagery may have placeholder alt text — we are auditing and updating.
